The Big Island is known for its beaches, and it is home to some of the most unique beaches in the world including the Green Sand Beach Papakōlea that is one of the more remote but unique beaches on the Big Island. The Big Island is volcanic by nature, and this makes for excellent snorkelling spots right off of the beaches - Carlsmith Beach Park is one of the best snorkelling beaches to spot both fish and turtles! Due to the volcanic nature of the big Island of Hawaii there are many volcanos and Lava tubs across the island that you can visit, for example the Thurston Lava tube (Nāhuku) is the most easily accessible (and free) Lava tube on the Big Island, and it is conveniently located in the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park where you can see some other amazing volcanic sites!
Seeing the volcanos from land is one thing but seeing them from the air is on a whole different level! On your Hawaii holidays you will also have the opportunity to see the islands amazing landmarks from the air on a helicopter tour! Your experienced helicopter pilots will show you the amazing landscape including erupting volcanos and fresh lava flows into the sea (if the volcano is erupting on your visit that is). This is a once-in-a-life-time experience where you will see new land as it is being formed! The Big Island is also home to the tallest dormant volcano in Hawaii, MaunaKea, which doubles as the perfect stargazing spot! The MaunaKea summit is home to 12 observatories where you will be able to look through telescopes into the night sky!
