Twin Centre New York City holidays are the ideal way to make the most of your America Holiday. When visiting New York there are plenty of accommodation options but whenever we visit the Big Apple, we prefer to stay in or around Times Square: The Riu Plaza Times Square and the DoubleTree by Hilton in Times Square are some of our favourites that, ideally, don’t break the bank.
Whilst in New York we love to jam-pack all the sightseeing we can – whether we are there for 3 days or a whole week. Staying in Times Square is perfect for sightseeing as you are right in the heart of all the New York action. You can stroll down Fifth Avenue to Central Park or walk to Rockefeller Center and visit the Top of The Rock. In Central Park there is so much to do and see: apart from simply strolling around to take in the luscious green space, you also have the Central Park Zoo and the iconic New York City hotdog vendors!
Another must-see sight when in New York is the Statue of Liberty, though there are two options for how you to see Lady Liberty: visiting Liberty Island by boat and seeing her close up (and maybe even climbing to the top) or sipping cocktails at a Brooklyn Rooftop bar (Harriet's Rooftop bar at 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge is our particular favourite for an amazing view of the Manhattan Skyline, Brooklyn Bridge views and views of the Statue of Liberty). To reach a rooftop bar in Brooklyn we highly recommend hopping in a New York Yellow Cab over the Brooklyn Bridge itself!
The Empire State Building, Broadway, The National September 11 Memorial & Museum, the American Museum of Natural History, and Radio City Music Hall are some more of our favourite sights to see in New York and perfect for any city break adventure. When it comes to dining, we would rather skip the Michelin Star’s for some old-fashioned New York pizza – Joe’s Pizza is a New York classic and many other pizza shops around the city will produce you an excellent slice for only a dollar!
After a jam-packed itinerary in New York, we love to pair our city break with another USA destination. Some of our favourite New York Twin Centre pairings include San Francisco, Los Angles, Orlando, and Boston!
On our New York and San Francisco trip we always head straight down to Fisherman’s Wharf where we check into our hotel – when on a budget we love to stay at The Zephyr Hotel, but for special occasions or if we are not staying in San Francisco for too long we will opt to stay at The Argonaut: both hotels are excellently located but The Argonaut has that extra touch of luxury. In San Francisco we will always visit the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz Island, the Painted Ladies, Pier 39, and hop on a cable car to Union Square!
When we pair our New York and Los Angeles holiday, our hotel of choice will often be The Garland for excellent location…right by Universal Studios Hollywood. LA is full of amazing thing to do and see: hiking up to the Hollywood Sign, Universal Studios Hollywood, the Griffith Observatory, the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Grove, Grand Central Market, Venice beach and Boardwalk but some visitors often forget that venturing out of Los Angeles a little will take you to some amazing places! For example, Santa Monica is home to the Santa Monic Pier where you can eat, drink, and ride the iconic rides. Another great attraction outside of LA is Disneyland California – you could even stay for a night or two in Anaheim before returning to the city. Malibu is another amazing place to spend a night or two if you want to be the beach on your Los Angeles holiday!
Orlando is home to fast rides and family fun – it is the perfect pairing with New York when planning a family Twin Centre USA holiday. In Orlando we love to stay in an Orlando Villa so we can have our own space to relax by the pool and eat dinner together after a fun day out at the theme parks. Though, sometimes we opt for a hotel… in which case, one of our favourites to stay at is the Hard Rock Hotel at Universal Studios Orlando as we always love to go to the Universal theme parks and staying at the Hard Rock gives us Free Unlimited Express Passes too! We also, of course, venture over to Walt Disney World to visit their iconic theme parks (our favourite is Animal kingdom), and if we have time, we often make the drive out to Tampa to spend the day at Busch Gardens (and sometimes the night at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tampa).
The fourth location we love to twin our holidays to New York with is Boston – one of the most historic cities in America. The New England architecture and culture feels a world away from the skyscrapers of New York, but the city experience is just as fun. Boston is known for its seafood, and we love to sample the lobster rolls when visiting. Boston also works as a great hub for us when we want to visit other New England destinations like Cape Cod and Salem. When staying in the city we often opt for the Boston Park Plaza, or the Regency Boston Harbour for great views out over the harbour itself.
When planning a holiday to New York, why not take it to the next level by twinning it with another amazing USA destination!
