Sample Itinerary of Uganda Gorilla Safari

Days 1-2

Fly from London Heathrow via Nairobi to Entebbe. Here you will transfer to a hotel in Kampala, Uganda's capital city.

Days 2-4

In the morning you will be transferred to Bujagali Falls where you will visit the Nile river. You will be camping near the falls for 2 nights, with breakfast, lunch and dinner included. On Day 3 you will go on a White Water Rafting trip on the While Nile. Lunch is provided on the banks of the river.

Days 4-5

Visit to Kibale Forest via Fort Portal. Stop at Kibale National Park where you will spend the night in an erected tent.

Today you will set out on foot into the jungle in search of chimpanzees and other primates. Other animals in the park include blue monkeys, vervet monkeys, bushbuck, mangabey and the colobus monkey. You will also walk through Bigodi Wetlands, home to birds such as the Great Blue Turaco.

Days 5-6

From Kibale you will drive south along the Rwenzori mountains and cross the equator to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Here you will find your campsite for the evening. The park overlooks the Kazinga Channel and Lake Edward. Hippos are regular visitors to the camp at night and the sunsets are spectacular.

Days 6-8

Partake in an early morning game drive in the Queen Elizabeth National Park, then enjoy a late afternoon motor launch trip on the Kazinga Channel. You will have close encounters with several hippo and crocodiles and elephants are known to bathe here. You will then drive to Kampala where you will spend the night.

Days 8-11

Drive to Bwindi National Park. You will be camping in the small village of Buhoma, which is just on the outskirts - you will then be taking an evening trip into the African rainforest.

You will embark on a search for Gorillas in Bwindi, accompanied by a local skilled tracker. You will also take park in nature trails including one that leads to the 33m high Munyaga River waterfall.

Days 11-12

Drive to and relax at Lake Bunyonyl. After a short crossing by canoe you will make your way to the campsite on Bushara Island. The lake is dotted with many small islands, many of which are inhabited - a fun way to explore these is by canoe.

Days 12-13

The day is spent heading back to Kampala, crossing the equator and passing through Mbarara and Masake en route. You will pass through many small villages and have time to take a look inside the various mud huts and meet the local residents.

Day 13

The tour ends in Kampala and you return to London via Nairobi.
