Rocky Mountaineer Route: Coastal Passage – Seattle to Banff via Vancouver, Kamloops, Jasper, and Lake Louise.

Rocky Mountaineer Canada Holiday highlights on this route include:

Pyramid Falls

  • Where: Between Jasper and Kamloops.
  • What: Pyramid Falls is a stunning sight along your Rocky Mountaineer journey. The Falls flow down where the glacier-fed Pyramid Creek flows out of a hanging valley and reaches the North Thompson River. At around 300ft high, this is a sight you will not want to miss! Cameras at the ready – you’ll have to fight for that window seat!

Cisco Crossing

  • Where: Between Kamloops and Vancouver.
  • What: The Cisco Crossing is where the train tracks meet, and the Cisco Bridge is the jewel of this area. The truss bridge is something you would never think to see out there in the wilderness and it is a striking sight against the natural landscape! As you cross the bridge, be sure to look down at the fast flowing, white water below!

Hoodoos

  • Where: Between Lake Louise and Banff.
  • What: The Hoodoos are massive rock formations that stick out from the landscape, and legend has it that these were once people turned to pillars by witchcraft centuries ago. Of course, this is only a legend and whether you believe it or not, you will still be treated to the outstanding views out over the Bow River Valley!

White Rock

  • Where: Between Seattle and Vancouver.
  • What: Only visible on the Rocky Mountaineer Coastal Passage Route, the White Rock is famous for its long pier and staggering white rock that can be seen from the edge of the water. Look out for this infamous Rock as you go past this area – legend has it a sea god threw the rock and it landed there!

Chuckanut Bay

  • Where: Between Seattle and Vancouver.
  • What: Chuckanut Bay is the only spot where the Cascade Mountain Range meets the sea – the tracks of the Rocky Mountaineer are surrounded by water at this point and travellers often feel as if they are gliding over the sea as if by magic.

Banff

  • Where: The final/first stop along your Rocky Mountaineer Holiday: Coastal Passage – Seattle to Banff via Vancouver, Kamloops, Jasper, and Lake Louise.
  • What: Banff National Park is truly a jewel of the Canadian Rockies. Banff National Park is full of amazing wildlife, epic scenery and of course, the spectacular Lake Louise – not to mention, the town is towered over by the incredible Tunnel Mountain. Banff is an outdoor lover’s ideal location and there are plenty of hikes, walks, trails and drives to be done within the National Park!

Jasper

  • What: A beautiful town that is located within the Jasper National Park – an alpine wilderness that is home to towering mountain peaks, blue glacier rivers, alpine trees, wonderful wildlife and more! Whilst in Jasper, for an unforgettable experience why not take the Jasper Skytram, which goes to the height of 2,277 metres above sea level, through the Rockies!

Lake Louise

  • What: Be ready to be wowed, Lake Louise is a magical place within Banff National Park that stuns visitors every time. Lake Louise glows in an unbelievable shade of turquoise and is towered over by the Victoria Glacier. The iconic Lake Louise hotel, the Fairmont Château Lake Louise, is where many visitors opt to stay for the night thanks to their afternoon tea on the terrace that offers stunning views over Lake Louise! This is certainly the best selfie-spot along all the Rocky Mountaineer Routes!

Kamloops
