Days 1-3
Fly from the United Kingdom on one of the daily flights operated by our partner airlines, British Airways, United or Virgin Atlantic. Once you have picked up your rental car, head towards the centre of Washington to your hotel the Phoenix Park. Inspired by its Irish heritage, the hotel is luxuriously finished and comes highly recommended for its service and location. Within walking distance of Capitol Hill, the location is perfect for visitors who want to explore the wealth of museums, monuments, galleries, restaurants and bars the city has to offer.
Days 3-5
From Washington travel the short distance north to Baltimore and your hotel the Hilton Garden Inn located in the inner harbour. This is the heart of the city, with a host of attractions, including the National Aquarium, set within the Inner Harbour, one of the oldest in the United States it is home to a diverse range of bars and restaurants. The Hilton Garden Inn is a great base from where to explore the city, with large newly furnished guest rooms and an indoor pool. It is very close to the Little Italy district, where you can dine at a number of great, authentic restaurants.
Days 5-6
Annapolis is a beautiful historic city that has grown up around the natural harbour and is the yachting capital of Chesapeake Bay. Take a tour of the harbour and the bay on one of the many boat services that operate from the town or visit the impressive setting of the US Navy College. You will spend the night at the Doubletree Annapolis, found in the centre of the town it has modern large rooms and great customer service. Make use of the hotel shuttle service for an easy way to explore Annapolis.
Days 6-8
Hyatt Regency Chesapeake in Cambridge is a luxury resort from where you can explore the beautiful coastal towns of St Michaels and Oxford which have become popular tourist attractions with their specialty crab dishes and quaint ports. The resort itself features its own private beach, a full spa indoor and outdoor pools as well as a choice of restaurants and bars. The guestrooms and suites are all of a high standard making it fantastic place to relax mid-way through your holiday.
Days 8-10
Your holiday continues in Virginia Beach, at the southern tip of Chesapeake Bay. Drive to your hotel the Holiday Inn Express, which is located directly on the beachfront, offering great views over the Atlantic Ocean. The hotel contains both an indoor and outdoor pool with fitness centre, and is close to a great range of bars and restaurants, along the beach boardwalk with a long sandy beach. Local attractions include the Old Cape Henry Lighthouse with offers spectacular views of the Chesapeake coastline.
Days 10-12
The historic colonial settlement of Williamsburg provides a snapshot of the early settler life in the British colonial age. The historic area of the town has been renovated to appear as it would have done over 300 years ago. The Clarion is located within the historic district of the town offering contemporary well-appointed guest rooms with great amenities including a heated indoor swimming pool where you can relax after a day of exploring the local area. Be sure to visit the historic English settler towns of Jamestown and Yorktown, and Busch Gardens which is home to fantastic rides and rollercoasters.
Days 12-14
Charlottesville is the quaint home of the University of Virginia, whose grounds are a World Heritage Site. Although a small town, its contains a range of restaurants, shops and tea rooms and is only a few miles away from Monticello, the home of Thomas Jefferson, a founding father of the United States. Set in beautiful grounds it is well worth a visit. Your hotel the Omni Charlottesville is located in the centre of town and is finished to a very high standard and complete with indoor and outdoor pools. There are large and modern guestrooms and direct access to the pedestrian mall with the option of dining at the hotel or one of the many restaurants nearby.
Days 14-15
The Skyline Drive takes you through the incredible scenery of the Shenandoah Valley running between the Blue Mountains and the Appalachians. It is a great road to drive along with numerous viewpoints where you can stop and admire the natural beauty of the area. It will lead you from Charlottesville, to the town of Front Royal, the final overnight stop on your holiday in America. We have chosen the Holiday Inn Hotel and Suites, which offer large modern guestrooms and an indoor pool with onsite restaurant. The hotel overlooks a landscaped golf course, with views to the mountains beyond. The hotel is also able to arrange hot air balloon tours allowing you to view the landscape from above.
Day 15
Head back to Washington and drop off your hire car at the airport before boarding your flight back to the United Kingdom.
