Sample Itinerary of Explore the Northern Territory

Days 1-5

Fly from London to Ayres Rock with Qantas airlines on one of their spacious aircraft with new levels of comfort, innovation and service.

You will first fly from London to Singapore with a short stop before boarding your flight to Sydney for a stop en-route.

You will arrive at Ayres Rock at Uluru the central point of Australia.

You will transfer to your hotel - The Ayres Rock Resort where you will settle yourself into your accommodation for the next 4 nights and that evening take in some stories from other adventurers and experience the majestic sunsets of Uluru.

See Uluru at sunrise, followed by a guided walk to Mutitjulu waterhole. Later walk along the base of Uluru and learn of its past and Aboriginal legends, enjoying a trip to the cultural centre and sunset around a campfire at Uluru base.

Days 5-6

Travel to Kings Canyon take a walk through the towering walls and plateaus, experience the amphitheatre and Lost City share some Aboriginal stories.

Overnight is at the Kings Canyon Resort.

Days 6-8

From Kings Canyon you head north to Alice Springs, Australia's most central outback township.

Visit the base for the famous Royal Flying Doctors Service and the school of the air. You can also visit the old Telegraph station, enjoy the panoramic views of the town and the rugged West MacDonnell Ranges from ANZAC Hill.

Spend 2 nights at the one of the most central locations in Alice Springs at the Aurora Alice Springs.

Days 8-10

Depart Alice Springs and take a 2 hour flight to Darwin. The flight is late morning so gives you chance to reminisce and have breakfast prior to departing the hotel for the airport.

Arrive in Darwin and transfer by coach to the Holiday inn Darwin for a 2 night stay. Spend the rest of the day at leisure visiting the city's famous harbour-side and parks.

Days 10-12

Be up early to join your tour and head off via 4WD to Kakadu National Park with your experienced tour guide that will assist you in taking in all the highlights of the area.

Travel to the ancient Aboriginal rock art sites at Ubirr. Enjoy lunch in a bush setting before joining an Aboriginal guide for the Guluyambi cruise on the East Alligator River in search of salt water crocodiles.

You can take a scenic flight over the Kakadu National Park area, 2 nights Kakadu National Park.

Days 12-14

Travel to Nourlangie Rock a renowned Aboriginal rock art site then on to Katherine where you will join the Nabilil Dreaming Sunset Cultural Diner Cruise on Katherine Gorge to see the sunset and enjoy a relaxing meal, 2 nights at The All Seasons Katherine.

Days 14-15

Depart Katherine and travel to Adelaide River War Cemetery, continue onto Litchfield National Park taking a short stop at the termite mounds and Florence Falls, continue onto Wangi Falls and enjoy a refreshing swim or nature walk before returning to Darwin.

The hotel you return to will be Mantra on the Esplanade Darwin overlooking the harbour and the esplanade.

Days 15-18

Tiwi Islands tour this is a one day tour giving you the chance to experience a modern day Aboriginal community, a 30 minute flight from Darwin general aviation airport takes you to Bathurst Island where you will be met by your local guide who will escort you on your journey through the aboriginal community of Nguiu.

You will learn about the culture and history of the Aboriginal way of life and the "dreamtime", a chance to see and purchase some genuine arts and crafts, visit an ancient burial ground and learn about the traditions of the Pukamani poles.

Your guide will share stories and traditions even bush tucker and bush medicine, late afternoon you will board your return flight back to Darwin.

Spend the last 2 days of your fantastic Australian trip in Darwin.

You have a choice to hire a car for a couple of days and do some self-drive or simply chill out at the hotel and surrounding area.

Day 18

Prepare for your flight from Darwin back home with Qantas airlines.
